Rosa Parks change maker speech

For inquiry in class we had to write a one minute speech about a change maker and why you think they are a change maker. For my change maker I did Rosa Parks.
Here is my speech:

Rosa Parks was an African American woman who lived in Alabama. Rosa and her husband were members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) because they wanted to get equal rights.

On the first of December 1955 Rosa was catching a bus home from work. When she and a few other black people were told to stand after a white man boarded the bus due to segregation rules, she refused. The bus driver threatened to call the police but she still refused. Soon after, the police showed up and arrested her. She was charged for breaking a segregation law but she refused to pay saying that the law was illegal. African American leaders got together and decided to boycott the city buses and continued this boycott for 381 days until finally the U.S Supreme Court ruled that the segregation laws in Alabama were unconstitutional.

I chose Rosa Parks because she made changes not only to help herself but to help others and she had the courage to take action when others were too afraid. She saw other opportunities to make changes in other ways as well.
